Probably going to be our last month of laying down nicely for a monthly pic…sigh.

Hi, friends! I’m here with my first official post of 2021 and it feels so good to be back; our holiday hangover has come to an end and we’re ready for all the good things to come this year. I hope you are, too!

Just this week, Grace and Owen turned eight months old and they’re becoming the sweetest, silliest and sneakiest little pair of troublemakers in the house. I thought that Bennett and Liam could not be outdone but these two are seriously starting to get their stuff together and wreak havoc in their own little way. I had zero experience with twins until they were born so every day is sort of like watching animals at the zoo in their natural habitat. It’s so cool and also a little wild to watch…but mostly fun! Here’s a quick peek at what our smallest Shaughnessys are into (and not) these days:

GRACE

Likes: playing with her feet, sleeping on her tummy, scooting (sooo close to fully crawling), clapping, feeding herself, cuddling before naps/bedtime, getting attention from big brothers (literally their #1 fan, always locked in 1000%), bathtime and her pacifier.

Dislikes: drinking her bottle (prefers food), laying on her back, when Owen touches her face, having her face wiped/cleaned after eating…basically the face is off limits, the taste of peas and small bites of food (still just getting used to chunky bites bc texture probs).

OWEN

Likes: toys that make noise or light up, eating anything (our big kid obv), people watching, dancing with me, sleeping with his blankey, loving on Grace, swatting at all the things and looking at himself in the mirror.

Dislikes: having his diaper changed, being awake in his crib, getting dressed, tummy time (has zero interest in crawling), waiting his turn for food, being left alone in a room, noises that startle him and wearing a bib (to be fair, he is def the cleanest eater).

The babies are forming their own personalities and it’s been fun to watch. Especially because they’re so different, it’s also really sweet to see them grow together and find some similarities, too. I’m starting to get the feeling that they’ll be twins that don’t really look like twins by appearances but we’ll see how it goes. Owen has been bigger from day one and just keeps eating, drinking and growing bigger and more quickly than Grace. Being the older twin (by twelve minutes, that is), Grace is turning into the sassy one around here so it probably won’t be long before she’s running the show. Owen is definitely the more chill baby who does his own thing and takes it all in. He is starting to become a little more whiny and jealous though, but we’ll say that’s just him being the baby of the family lol; no offense all the lastborn children out there!

Anyway, that’s all for now. They have their big, nine-month checkup in February so we’re interested to see how much they’ve grown. I’ll be sure to report back after. Until then, I’ll leave you with some favorite twinnie moments from our last month. Btw it might go without saying but all the clothes, gear, etc. seen in my posts are all linked in The Shop!
