Well, let me start by saying, it’s been a minute. A few months actually, since I’ve posted and so SO much has happened! After the holidays we suffered another huge loss in our family with my mother-in-law passing and after the fog started to clear, we celebrated Liam’s 5th birthday, the twins’ baptism annnnd had less than a month to get packed and ready to move. Wild, crazy, exciting, sad, all the feels in what seems like it was no time at all…but also kinda felt like forever in the moment. You know what I mean?

Anyway, all that said – we’re officially in our brand new home and could not love it more! Keep in mind, we’re coming in REAL HOT off of a 6-month lease in a 3-bedroom apartment…with 4 kids…2 adults…and a ridiculous amount of boxes, storing half of our life’s belongings. Close quarters made for some great memories and lots of together time but we were beyond ready to let our animals roam free in a bigger house. Of course, all the waiting was 1000% worth it and I feel like we’re finally where we’re supposed to be; it just feels right! I’m excited to share all the things after we’re a little more settled in but for now, here’s a sneak peek and some info on the build. She’s a little modern, a little classic, a nice, fresh start for all of us…

Front Elevation: I love a traditional brick but when we saw this light stacked stone, we knew didn’t want anything else. The modern craftsman elevation style was our favorite and we chose the darker siding to make the trim really pop. Still waiting for the ground to thaw so they can install, you know – a driveway, sod, landscaping, nbd.

Kitchen: I honestly could’ve gone in so many directions with this space. A white, bright kitchen is beautiful, some light-wood cabinets are timeless…I think my kitchen board on Pinterest was all over the place. So many looks are gorgeous and with all the choices in color, hardware, wood types and tones, it was hard to commit. We opted for light gray cabinets throughout the whole house and knew that with some medium-brown floors (with gray undertones), it would all work well together nicely. We chose white lower cabinets for the island for contrast and the quartz countertops brought in some hints of gray, too.

Gathering Room: We decided on this specific floor plan because we liked the 2-story gathering room. I know it’s not for everyone and of course it’s a huge wall to fill (that is IMO begging for a tall fireplace – maybe someday) BUT the windows flood this room with amazing light and we love how it turned out.

Master Bath: Just like the kitchen, this room could’ve easily turned out looking completely different. Ever since we’ve been together, Colin and I have always shared a vanity so needless to say, this was a major upgrade. The frameless shower is a bonus because Col’s a tall guy and the soaker tub means that I can lock myself in the bathroom whenever I please so ABSOLUTLEY YES to that.

Loft: We had the option to make this an additional bedroom but opted to keep it as a second living area instead. With four kids, we know that someday they’ll all want to have friends over and multiple living spaces just made sense. This loft is tucked away at the top of the stairs so we can still know what’s going on but don’t feel they’re right next to us. We also have a playroom behind the kitchen and a full basement so hopefully, everyone will have their own place to go.

Second Bath: For now, all the kids share this bathroom and it’s working out nicely. In a few years, Grace will move into a separate bedroom with her own full bath; we felt like it was only fair with three brothers. So – eventually this will be the boys’ bathroom to share.

That’s all for now! Still have other rooms to share..entryway, laundry room, playroom, bedrooms…but I’ll post more soon. And by soon, I mean – once we’re officially unpacked because that’s still happening over here. Maybe by the time I update next, we’ll have a lawn lol. Stay tuned for more!
