I’m in serious denial over here that the twins are turning ONE in just a few weeks. Especially being home for the past year, it seems like it’s been forever but like most things with kids, the time has flown by! We may try and host a small party once the weather warms up and honestly, I’m dying to throw a party and see our favorite, special people! Some friends and family have already been asking what Grace and Owen could use for their birthday. And yes-even though we have plenty of hand-me-downs from our older boys, I still think it’s fun to open presents and ask for practical, long-lasting gifts that I know they’ll use. So, let’s get to it: these are a few of my favorite things to get and gift for sweet, little one-year-olds…enjoy!
- I’m not sure why kids get so much joy from knocking things down. The twins belly laugh so hard after they destroy anything I stack up for them. These Skip Hop nesting blocks are my favorite because they’re super-sturdy, light enough for little hands to hold and don’t take up a ton of space.
- Both my older boys started clinging to a certain stuffed animal around the time they turned one. The cuddle + kind dolls are so freaking cute it’s hard to decide which one I like the most!
- Board books are always a solid choice and beyond the go-to’s like Goodnight Moon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar that we all get/gift at a baby shower, some of my favorites for young toddlers are: Black & White, Where’s the Astronaut?, Moo, Baa, Lala La, My Favorite Color, Llama Llama Red Pajama, and First 100 Animals Lift-the-Flap.
- The Minnidip inflatable pools are SO FUN! Their Minni-Minni size is perfect for littles and the prints are way cuter than your standard kiddie pool. Best part is that you can bring it indoors for a ball pit setup, too.
- I really like these colorful flashcards for teaching new words. They have cute illustrations and are an easy activity to toss in the stroller or diaper bag to keep little ones occupied. Bonus: they’re laminated and durable!
- Playing with blocks is always a good thing for tots. These adorable sensory blocks help them learn spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- I love this Ezpz mat for mealtime. It still won’t keep little hands from making a mess with their food but since it seals to any surface, you know at least the mat will stay put.
- To be honest, I keep the twins barefoot most of the time but when I do put socks on their feet, they have to be non-slip. These Bombas gripper socks are my favorite for one-year-olds who are learning to walk.
- I know there are a ton of options out there for walkers but I have to say that we’re a big fan of all things Radio Flyer so their walker wagon is a must-have. I like how it has a simple design but can let little ones tote things around, too.
- A cute, cozy, chair is one of my favorite gifts to give (and receive). My older boys both have Nod Chairs from Crate + Kids and the Anywhere Chair by PB Kids is another great option, too. They last a long time and give kids their own relaxing spot that’s just their size. They have tons of colors and prints to choose from and of course, monograms make them extra special. Perfect for ages 1-5 and beyond!
